Policies & Procedures
REGISTRATION-New Students
To register for classes, a registration form (which is a contract agreement) must be completed and signed. The Academy has an open enrollment policy and accepts new students throughout the fall, winter and early spring. To participate in the Year-End Recital, however, a student must be enrolled by January 2, 2012. Please call Ballet Idaho, (208) 343-0556, for more information.
New students to dance, ages 3-6, will be placed in the Pre-Ballet program. For all other new students, consideration will be given to age and previous training and placement will be at the discretion of the Academy Director. Once registered, parents/guardians agree to the terms of the contract.
TUITION/FEES/REFUNDS
Tuition payments are due in-full at the time of registration or on a monthly basis. Cash, check or credit cards are accepted. You must provide a valid credit card number or post-dated checks for future payments. Payments are due by the first of each month.
No student will be allowed to take classes for which outstanding balances are due.
After the first two weeks, there are NO refunds, credits or transfers of tuition payments. In the event of an extenuating circumstance involving prolonged injury, illness or relocation, Ballet Idaho may consider a refund. A request for withdrawal and refund must be in writing to the Business Manager and written verification by a physician or proof of relocation may be required.
The Ballet Idaho Academy offers no refunds for students who are unable to attend class. Make-up classes may be arranged in the level below the student’s current level and should be arranged with the Academy Director.
Registration, audition and production fees are non-refundable.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Merit scholarships, full or partial, may be awarded to Curriculum students, Level 3A and above, who have demonstrated exemplary talent, work ethic and commitment to their training and who are in financial need. Students who meet ALL the above criteria may apply for a Scholarship, however, they are awarded only under exceptional circumstances. All scholarship awards are solely the decision of the Academy Director and are final. Please consult the calendar for application deadline and audition date.
A scholarship is a serious commitment for the student, a serious investment for the Academy of Ballet Idaho and requires consistent excellence on the part of the student to justify this privilege. Scholarship students may be asked, from time to time, to assist staff or faculty in other tasks such as assisting at fundraisers, stuffing envelopes, distributing materials to students, presenting flowers at performances and the like.
CLASS LEVELS
The Curriculum Track (Ballet IA, 1B, 2A, 2B, 2A/B, 3A, 4A, 5A) is designed for the more serious student. It methodically trains the discipline of classical ballet in a progressive curriculum. Students who enroll in this track enroll for the Academy term (September–May) and are required to take a specified number of classes per week in order to fulfill the expectations of the Academy. In addition, students are encouraged to enroll in alternative dance disciplines to increase versatility.
Should a student wish to pursue a career in ballet, the Curriculum Track will provide the foundation for such endeavors by building strong and versatile technique. Students in the Curriculum Track will develop and strengthen the personal qualities of character, discipline, motivation, manners, teamwork and leadership.
The Choice Track (Beginning Ballet, Ballet 1 and 2) combines the methodical ballet training of the Curriculum Track with convenience and flexibility for students who wish to pursue other activities in addition to dance. It also includes alternative dance disciplines such as Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop.
CLASS PLACEMENT
Placement is determined by age, experience and ability. Placement is solely the decision of the Academy Director.
A student must demonstrate consistent mastery of all technical and artistic aspects of his/her present class level in order to advance to the next level. Some students will need to remain for more than one year at certain levels. Because students progress at different rates, it is possible that some students will be promoted to a higher level during the school year. If a student is promoted to a higher level during the academy term, the additional tuition costs (of the higher level) will be charged on a pro-rated basis.
